Analyze, “What story is creating these emotions” Ask, “What emotions are encouraging me to act this way?” When we master our stories, we take ownership for the emotional energy we bring to the conversation, and when we do that, we begin to change the conversation. Instead, it is the first step toward addressing that behavior through dialogue. Mastering our stories isn’t about letting someone off the hook for bad behavior.
